Answer: Unused drains, like anything else that had water flowing through it and no longer does, can definitely dry up. Often, moisture will linger in these drains for a long time because of the way they are shaped. They are also generally in damper locations, and they don’t have heat or sunlight on them that can dry them up. But eventually they will dry out. As for whether they will be rough inside, that’s more often from buildup and debris that has been in the water and flowing through the drains for some time.
